What is E-Herblore

E-Herblore AKA Enhanced or Expanded Herblore is an expansion on the default herblore skill offering a new mechanic to mixing potions called brewing. E-Herblore adds 140 new herbs and quite a large quantity of effects and possible potion outcomes.

E-Herblore somewhat resembles Skyrims alchemy system. Except somewhat more difficult on the account of a similar system of using trial and error to discover effects. However which ingredient is responsible for the final effect of the potion is never revealed to the player.

Obtaining Ingredients

There are three primary ways to obtain E-Herblore ingredients.

- Participate in events that reward Herb Boxes
- Pest Control Rewards
- Dungeon Rewards
- Kill Chaos Fanatic, Crazy Archaeologist, Callisto, Scorpia, or the Necromancer to obtain herb boxes.
- In the house north of Edgeville bank with the giant crystal there is a herb shelf you can pick herbs from every day.

Effect Types

There are three primary effect types every potion gets one of each. The most common effect to every ingredient is the effect chosen for the final potion.

Targeting Effects

- May modify how the potion targeting behaves.
- Default: Self

Applied Effects

- These effects are the primary potion effects and they always modify potion behavior.
- Some effects may not be added in fully yet.

Magnitude Boosters / Effect Modifiers

- These effects are special in the sense that they are not a part of the brewing system. There are certain items you can add to certain potions and doing so will modify the effect or magnitude of effect.

Determining Effects

There is also a rare drop from the Crazy Archaeologist called a dusty scroll. These are consumable items that have the full effect of a single herb noted on them. Once you read the scroll it will disappear so make sure to note it's contents!

Methodical Herbology

Data Tiers: Starting at T1, T2, T3 every data tier is separated in my notes.

- T1 Data is the least reliable and is obtained when you mix 4 random ingredients.
- T2 Data comes only after mixing two or more T1 Data sets and producing the expected outcome.
- T3 Data comes after mixing multiple T2 Data structures. (Probably not even necessary)

Examples

- T1 Example: Mix Herbs a a b b and c c a a together. The product of a a b b is a potion that has the effect of Target: Self, Effect: Stagger From the data we can suspect that Herb A probably has the effect of stagger. This would be an example of T1 Data or just a weak unproven suspicion in other words.

- T2 Example: Say we have been mixing potions for a while and we suspect Herb D might also have Stagger... T2 Data would come from mixing a potion like a a d d or two suspicions with weak evidence. If the potion comes out with a Stagger effect our suspicion grows. At this point I consider it T2 Data and separate it from T1 Data and consider it a bit more reliable.

The actual book on E-Herblore

Although this article should be a bit more detailed there is also a in-game guide for easy access. In the house north of Edgeville bank search the bookshelves along the wall and take the book on E-Herblore.
